Our canned food is safe to eat for everyone since it has been sterilised. We do, however, recommend that you remain careful if you have a food allergy or intolerance. All of our product descriptions, either online or directly on the product packaging (allergens are in bold), have a list of allergens. You can also view a list of allergens for each of our products by clicking here.

Yes, you can eat your product even if the minimum durability date has expired (MDD). Take a look at the outside of the tin. Any physical traces could indicate that the product is not at its best: any deep dents on tin, rust, bulges or any unusual smells when opening, etc. If in any doubt, it’s best not to eat the contents.

We don’t add any sulphite to our recipes, but any ingredient used in our recipes containing sulphites (or any other allergen) is highlighted on the label. Sulphite has antioxidant and antimicrobial properties. This is why sulphite is used as a preservative in various products such as wine, cider, pickled gherkins, mustard and dried fruit.

You’ll find a list of any allergens (including gluten) present in our recipes on our product descriptions, either online or directly on the product packaging (allergens are in bold). You can also view a list of allergens for each of our products by clicking here.

What makes us unique is that we are both manufacturers and distributors. We have our own retail stores and website where we sell our products. Our products are sold in batches directly to the consumer, skipping the middleman, which means we can offer you a lower price. Our products are available in packs and assortments so you can try our different recipes. You can check them out by clicking here. We don’t add any preservatives to our recipes. Our products have a long shelf life thanks to the canning process, during which they are hermetically sealed and sterilised.

Our products are made in our factory located in Quiberon (Morbihan) in Brittany. Read about the history of la belle-iloise and the manufacturing of its products by clicking here.

To store products sold in metal tins, we recommend you empty them into an air-tight container and keep them in the fridge. Products sold in glass jars with a lid can be kept as they are in the fridge. Both should be eaten within 48 hours.
