Inspired by piperade, the traditionally spicy local ratatouille, our soup combines vegetables and fish for a delicious, healthy and balanced meal.

Its beautiful reddish-orange hues reveal generous chunks of flaked tuna, melting diced zucchini, tiny bits of sun-dried tomato, as well as thin strips of red bell pepper with a deliciously fruity taste. Its subtly spicy aroma exudes notes of spices and aromatic herbs. This regional recipe is a real treat, or besta, as we say in Basque!

Tips, advice for use

Shake well before opening, reheat without boiling, and serve! Simply eat it with a slice of bread, or add croutons if you wish.

For added authenticity, our chef suggests customising your croutons by rubbing garlic on them, then add a thin slice of Basque cheese and a pinch of Espelette chilli. Bake your new basquaise croutons in the oven until they are golden brown and serve them alongside our soup. Sliced mild chorizo.

Another idea to stimulate creativity: slice very thin slices of mild chorizo in your pan or dish, then pour in our Basque soup and heat up! This lively tip goes perfectly with the typical flavours of our recipe. Everyone should measure out the amount of sweet chorizo according to their taste!
